CE Requirements
Main Areas for Compliance
Bruker NMR spectrometer consoles and magnets must satisfy a wide range of requirements in order to conform to the CE norms. The requirements for compliance comprise the following three main areas:
1. Health and Safety of personnel operating the instrumentation.
- Electric shock hazard.
- Hazards from mechanical parts.
- Toxic fumes or gases.
- Excessive noise levels.
- Radiation.
- Heat and frost generation.
- Explosion.
- Other possible dangers, e.g., strong magnetic or electromagnetic fields.
2. Protection of the Environment.
- Electromagnetic Interference EMI: radiated RF emission.
- EMI: RF emission conducted on the 230 VAC mains supply.
- Protection of water and air (fire, gas or liquid leakage).
- Protection of buildings (mechanical stability, vibrations, flammability, explosion hazard).
3. Protection of the Instrumentation and its Functions.
- Immunity to:
- External EMI radiation and to mains surges.
- Electrostatic Discharge ESD.
- Prevention of damage during transport.
- Reduction of damage:
- From shocks and vibrations.
- Due to water and other liquids.
- Resistance to:
- Extreme temperatures and high humidity.
- Fire
- Corrosive gases
